Frequently Asked Questions

Planning an event comes with a lot of questions, and that is completely normal. Here are answers to some of the things couples, schools, organizations, and event hosts ask most often.

I’ve been DJing for over 14 years and have built my business around creating fun, polished, and well-run events.

I DJ around 30 weddings each year and up to 75 total events annually, so I have extensive real-world experience with weddings, school events, private parties, and other celebrations.

Yes. I carry liability insurance.

Yes. I have backup equipment for every piece of gear I use, so I’m prepared if something unexpected happens.

I have trusted backup personnel I’ve personally trained who can step in during a true emergency. That said, I have never missed a wedding I’ve booked.

A 50% booking retainer is required to officially reserve your date. The remaining balance is due during the week of the event.

Once you’re ready to move forward, I’ll send over a contract and access to my online client portal. There, you can digitally sign your contract, view invoices, make payments, access planning tools, and see a countdown to your event. Once the contract is signed, I’ll send an invoice and instructions for paying the booking retainer.

I will travel anywhere in Texas or up to 250 miles for a wedding, and up to 150 miles for other events.

No. I do not charge a travel fee.

The sooner, the better, especially for popular dates and holiday weekends. Most weddings typically book 8 to 12 months in advance.

Yes. I always provide my own sound system so I can control the quality of the sound for your event.

Yes. For weddings, I bring a separate set of speakers for the ceremony and for the reception.

Yes. My wedding services include coverage for both the ceremony and the reception.

Yes. I provide a clip-on microphone for your wedding officiant.

Yes. I have wireless microphones available for whatever you may need at your event. For anything beyond the officiant, toasts, or speeches, we just need to talk through it in advance so I can be prepared for the setup.

Absolutely. I help with planning and coordinating your wedding timeline so the night flows smoothly and feels unforgettable. With the number of weddings I do every year, I’m able to guide couples through what works best and help create an experience that feels natural, fun, and stress-free.

Yes. Clients can meet with me either virtually or in person before or after booking to talk through the details of their event. For weddings, I also schedule a meeting about one month before the big day to go over music selections and the timeline.

Usually, no. In all my years of performing at weddings, I’ve only attended two rehearsals. If a wedding is especially complicated, I can attend if needed, but in most cases it is not necessary because the wedding process is very familiar to me.

Yes. I am happy to act as MC and make as many or as few announcements as you’d like. I’m very comfortable on the microphone and can handle the important announcements and updates without sounding cheesy or over-the-top.

At this time, I offer MC services in English only.

Yes, and I encourage it. Couples are welcome to submit both must-play and do-not-play lists so I can help shape the right vibe for the reception.

As much or as little as you want. My preference is that you give me a few songs you definitely want played, plus some general direction on genres, decades, or overall vibe, and then let me do what you hired me to do. Reading the room and entertaining a diverse crowd is a big part of being a great DJ. That said, if you want to choose every song, I’m happy to play exactly what you want.

Yes. I can and will take song requests at all events unless the client asks me not to.

Yes. I always play clean versions of songs and do not keep dirty versions on my computer.

Yes. For schools and other organizations, I only play clean and age-appropriate music for the event. There is no need to make a special request when booking.

Yes. I always provide music for cocktail hour and dinner unless you already have a live band or another form of entertainment during those portions of the event. Keeping music going through those parts of the day helps set the mood for the full experience.

Yes. I provide dance floor lighting for all evening events.

Yes. Uplighting is included as part of all of my wedding experiences.

Yes. I offer a digital-only photo booth as an add-on for weddings for $650. It does not include printed photo strips.

That is usually not a problem. For weddings, there is no change because I do not charge by the hour. For other events, overtime is billed at $125 per 30 minutes. I will always do my best to accommodate events that run over, but if I have another booking later in the day, a major extension may not always be possible.

Yes. I work closely with other vendors to help the event run smoothly. That includes giving photographers a heads-up before important moments and checking with catering before releasing tables for dinner. Working well with other vendors is something I take a lot of pride in.

I accept check, cash, credit card, Venmo, and Zelle.

For weddings, I generally arrive 2.5 to 3 hours before the ceremony to begin setup. For most other events, I usually arrive 1 to 1.5 hours early.

No. I do not need Wi-Fi or internet to perform at your event.

I can set up in as small a space as 8' x 8' if needed.

All I need is one standard 110 outlet within 25 feet of my setup location. If power is farther away than that, I just need a heads-up so I can come prepared.

Yes, but for outdoor events I need to be under cover and out of direct sunlight. If there is any chance of rain, my equipment must be protected. In the summer, my equipment cannot be placed in direct sunlight.

Typically, no. I usually do not eat at weddings because I am focused on coordinating dinner service and keeping music playing throughout that part of the event.

Weddings are absolutely my favorite, but school functions are a close second. I have a big family, I’ve been an educator in the past, and I genuinely enjoy working with and entertaining kids.

This is not a side hustle or a hobby for me, this is my life. I live and breathe entertainment, music, and business. I run my DJ business professionally, with contracts, insurance, preparation, reliability, and passion for what I do.
